A brief background about Caroline Mashingaidze

Caroline Mashingaidze -Zimbizi was born and bred in Chitungwiza Unit K. She went to Seke 8 Primary School, David Whitehead primary school, and Seke 3 High School. She is an award winning Zimbabwean actress, experienced in theatre, film and television.

Caroline, a learning artist, has been recognized for her outstanding acting skills in film, television, and theatre, winning the NAMA award for her role as Zodwa in New Dawn.

Caroline considers herself as a learning artist who continues to gain experience through dabbling in a plethora of film, television and theatre productions. Her acting prowess has seen her being awarded the NAMA award for Outstanding Actress in Film for her role as Zodwa in New Dawn a Patsimeredu Edutainment Trust production. Her nomination for her stage role as Duduzile in Ten Bush, a stage play has shown her versatility and further her position at the apex of film and stage acting in present day Zimbabwe.

Caroline’s virtuosity has seen her working for different leading production houses in Zimbabwe. She has religiously done exceptional in productions from stables which include Patsimeredu Edutainment Trust, Rooftop Promotions and Savannah Trust. Her flirtation with the different production houses has exposed her to invaluable experience of working with reputable directors who include the award winning Daves Guzha, Joe Njagu and the internationally acclaimed Mncedisi Tshabangu. Under the latter’s guidance she acted as Duduzile in a physical theatre play titled en Bush. Her recent appearance in a stage play was in Pub Stories, a paly adapted from the late Zimbabwean prolific writer Dambudzo Marechera book with the same title. Her last two projects are Mugabe where she starred opposite Hakeem-Kae-Kazim and multi award winning Ngoda which was Produced by Joe Njagu.

Caroline has intensive experience as community development practitioner, experience she acquired through years she worked for Patsimeredu Edutainment Trust. Her time with Patsime exposed her to theatre for development. Most of her roles mirrored the lives of the rural poor and disempowered women of Zimbabwe giving interest contrast with the roles she played in conventional stage plays.

In addition to her acting skills, Mashingaidze holds a Diploma in Performing Arts awarded by CHIPAWO and accredited by the Midlands State University. She a certified makeup artist from Elite School of beauty and has a diploma in Lccc Markerting. Carol is a devout Christian whose work and life is premised on firm Christian values. Her personal values are hard work, integrity and humility.
